Off to College!

I'm headed to UC San Diego in the fall so my sister Megan and I are handing off Operation Dress Up to a couple of awesome kids. They'll continue handling clothing drives and helping out homeless kids in the community. The exciting news is that we'll be operating out of Los Angeles AND San Francisco!

Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of our cause. It's been really fun and I will continue doing things for the community when I get to San Diego!

More details coming soon on Operation Dress Up North & South :)

Next Clothing Drive

We'd like to hold our next community clothing drive in April. We're looking for a West Valley business that would like to host the event, meaning you would be the collection point for donations for one Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

We've worked with yogurt shops in the past, which drove a ton of traffic to the location! The ideal location will have plenty of parking and a space where we can set up a table and collection bins.

Also, we like to offer a complimentary treat or discount to everyone who donates a bag of clothing.  If this interests you, please contact us immediately. It's a great way for your company to get visibility and to help the community.

April is National Volunteer Month!

Lend a hand in the month of April during National Volunteer Month. Start planning now by looking for a cause you are passionate about.

Hold a clothing drive at your school.  It's easy.  Just get the word out, choose a beneficiary and determine a day and collection location.

Get other ideas an inspiration at dosomething.org, an organization that spearheads national campaigns so that students can make a change.

We want to know what you'll be doing in April to make a difference in your community. Like us on facebook and give us an update.

Lost 'n' Found Pick Up - Tuesday, March 12th

Operation Dress Up! will be making the rounds again to our community Elementary Schools to pick up lost and found items on Tuesday March 12th.

Please gather garments that are in good condition and we will take them to our friends at M.E.N.D. (Meet Each Need with Dignity). Please no lunch boxes, shoes or sweaty socks :)

If you'd like to schedule a pick up, please call 818.970.6673. All items must be bagged and ready to go (great way to get the students involved!).

Operation Dress Up! Visits Radio Disney

Special thanks to LaFern Cusack, on air host of Radio Disney's AM1110 Playground (Sundays from 6:30 a. m. - 7 a.m.) for having us in studio to talk about Operation Dress Up! and how other kids can make a difference in their communities.  It was really exciting to be in the same studio where so many of our favorite Disney artists have been.

Celebrity Stuff-a-thon Fun!

We volunteered at the National Parenting Publications Awards' Celebrity Stuff-a-thon this past weekend.  The event benefited My Stuff Bags Foundation, which delivers duffel bags filled with new belongings to children in foster care or shelters across the country.

It was a lot of hard work stuffing 500 bags, but so worth it! The bags are being delivered to the kids at Bienvenido Children's Center and to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Thank you to Haynes Charter for Enriched Studies!

Big shout out to our friends at Haynes Charter for Enriched Studies in West Hills for donating eight huge bags of children's clothing.  Big thank you to the Heicklen family who also contributed BIG TIME to our last drive. We're so grateful to our friends and partners in the community.
