Operation Dress Up! was created by sisters, Megan and Phoebe, who read about the growing number of homeless students in Los Angeles due to the economic down turn. The girls established a year-round clothing drive, which allows other students to help as well. All donations are delivered to homeless shelters and organizations that work directly with homeless youth in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

We met with Wendy Tamaki-Ogata from the LAUSD Homeless Education Program today and she informed us that homelessness among LAUSD's students continues to rise. Now more than ever before, parents are losing their jobs and their homes and many are living with friends or relatives, some in their cars. Many people may not realize that homelessness is defined by not having a permanent place to live. Those people who are staying with friends or family temporarily are indeed classified as homeless. This program is in dire need of donations, school uniforms and school supplies. For more information on how you can help, call (213) 765-2880.
